Our train got into Cochin at 1.45am, when we packed our things most other people were still sleeping and the carriage was really dark but we managed to get off at the right stop! When we got off the train the station was extremely busy with Indian men sleeping on the floor! There were hundreds of them laid out sleeping. We found our way out and to a rickshaw to take us to Fortcochin to our hotel, it was quite a journey but with it being early hours of the morning there was hardly any traffic on the roads. Once in Fortcochin it seemed to take forever to get to our hotel, the taxi driver or rickshaw driver usually just ask locals where the hotels are but seen as it was so early there was no one about to ask so we did a lot of driving around. Eventually there was someone to ask and we got there, then there was the job of trying to wake the owner up as I was 3.00am by now! Once inside he showed us the room and said we would sort all of the paperwork etc in the morning, which was fine with us!!
We slept in quite late so didn't get out and about til late afternoon but we had a wander around Fortcochin then we got a rickshaw to take us around for 1 hour for 50p and show us some sights. He took us to look at the fishing down by the harbour, they use Chinese fishing nets. It was really interesting seeing them use the nets and watching them pull the catch in. He took us to a few temples etc too. We got back to our hotel at around 5pm where we chilled for a bit then went out for something to eat. We'd got the name of a restaurant from trip advisor and went out find it, eventually we did and got a table. We hasn't realised how lucky we were to walk straight in and get a table as lots of people followed and had to either wait or go somewhere else. The food was very good though so this was why it was so popular.
