We started off today like yesterday, trying to get Thailand planned a little more. We spent quite some time on it. I'm still not 100%, I'm still getting stomach cramps, so James and I talked about going to see a doctor. It's not going to be as easy to do when we get back into Fort Cochin and we are soon planning on going on a house boat which will not be great with a bad stomach! So I went to talk to the hotel manager, they arranged that they would take me to the clinic where the doctor was at 6pm. I think I just need some antibiotics to shift whatever it is I've got. I wasn't looking forward to going really!!
James came with me, so there was the tuk tuk driver at the front of the tuk tuk then me, James and the hotel manager squashed in the back. Thank goodness it wasn't that far away! We walked straight in to see the doctor, she asked a few questions took my blood pressure etc, asked me to lie down on a bed. As she was seeing me another family came in and she started seeing them at the same time. James was outside the room sorting my passport details with the reception while I was in the room with the tuk tuk driver, the hotel manager, the doctor, three nurses and a whole other family. It was one of the most bizarre situations I have ever been in!! She didn't give me a diagnosis but I think it's just traveller's tummy. She wrote a 'prescription' and told me no dairy, no non veg food, I've got to drink black tea or coffee and tender coconut water! The people from the hotel sorted getting the tablets, four different sorts in little brown packets. On the way back we stopped to pick up some coconuts for me to drink over the next few days. The hotel were really good if a little over keen to help but the thought was there. The manager said she would make rice soup for my dinner as that would be good for me, and James ordered a biriyani. When we got back to the room we looked through what tablets I had been given and laughed about how strange all of they just was.
When we went for dinner she brought out the rice soup, it looked just as disgusting as it sounds and tasted even worse. I ate about half of it and had some of James' rice which was much nicer! We asked for water and the hotel manager said she wasn't sure I should be drinking it as the doctor hasn't said. We assured her that the best thing I can do is drink plenty of bottled water. It was a little hard work! Oh well the stomach cramps seem to have gone now and I'm feeling a little better hopefully tomorrow will be a better (less eventful) day.
