This morning we have decided to visit Jew Town on the other side to Fort Cochin. We got a tuk tuk there, we weren't sure what to expect but knew there would be a large old synagogue. When we got there we looked around the synagogue, unfortunately though we couldn't go inside as it was closed on Saturdays. But there were lots of shops to have a look at around the area. As we were walking around there was the most gorgeous smell of fresh ginger, there were a few places which had piles of it in doorways. Mum would absolutely love it, the smell was one of the highlights of visiting here! Also there was an old Dutch Palace which had been made into a museum so we paid our 15p entrance fee and had a look around there. The walls had amazing murals on them which have been preserved by the museum and some artifacts to have a look at too. After the museum we stopped in a cafe to have a bite to eat and a drink, then thought while we would be getting a tuk tuk back to Fort Cochin anyway we would get it to take us to the liquor store and get a few beers for tonight. We pulled up to what did not look like any sort of shop. It had bars on the windows with small holes at the bottom to pass money and the alcohol through. In front of this with a small walk way in between was a sheet of black metal so you could not really see what was inside. We walked around and asked for some beer and a small bottle of brandy for Anoob. We had to hand the money over first before getting alcohol but it wasn't a bad price at all for it. Inside the shop were bottles lining shelves along the back and on the floor were cardboard boxes scattered full of bottles. As we got back in our tuk tuk the queue had grown considerably with Indian men. We got back to where we're staying James gave Anoob his present which was much appreciated and put our beers in the fridge. We got changed and went out for something to eat. When we got back Anoob was in the kitchen having a drink with another guest, James joined him and I went back into our room to Skype the family. It was great to see everyone!!
