We actually managed to make it to breakfast this morning, all caught up on our sleep! It's a home stay where we are so we get a room just like a hotel room with ensuite bathroom but its just a room in this guy's house. He is called Anoob and he's really nice, and actually very funny. I'm not sure how many rooms he has in total, there were some on the first floor which you got to by a stair case on the outside, and then there was our room and Anoob's room downstairs off the living room. Breakfast was in the dining room, with only four chairs, he has more guests than this but I guess it just works out and everyone turns up a different times. After breakfast we spoke to Anoob about the fact we wanted to go on a tour of the backwaters and ask him what he thought would be best. We also asked him about staying back in Fort Cochin for a few days from 2nd Jan to 6th. He gave us some great info which really helped and said he had a room if we'd like to stay back with him. So we booked it there and then, a lot easier and cheaper than the Internet. For the rest of the day we had a really good walk around the majority of Fort Cochin. We did manage to eventually get the parcel posted, Anoob told us that you have to go to a tailors to get it sewn into cloth to be able to get it sent. This sounded bizarre but once we found the tailors the sign outside said handmade suits and parcel wrapping. We didn't have to wait too long and it was all sewn up and even wax sealed! I'm hoping it gets there in one piece. We wandered some more, we came across a part of town that seemed to be able to sell alcohol, so we popped into a restaurant and had a beer. After this we headed back to get changed to go out got tea. We had read about a place called Dal Roti which the food was meant to be really good, very fast service but not the greatest owner of the restaurant. We thought we'd give it a go, we got there and all but one table for two were full, lucky again! The restaurant yet again didn't sell alcohol. We ordered our meal, I got a Thali which is two vegetable/lentil curries, a raita, some vegetables, a curry of your choice, I went for chicken and two chapatis, it came on a round tray with the little pots all inside. James got something which was very much like a kebab, it was spiced mutton wrapped in chapatis. Both meals were really good but big, and they came out if the kitchen extremely fast! We paid up and left and decided to go and get a beer seen as we knew where to get one from now.
