We got up early this morning so that we could get off to the post office, we got a rickshaw there. It was a larger rickshaw with no door on one side! After getting to the post office we were told that our parcel would be better wrapped in cloth in case it came open and we had customs forms to fill in. We didn't end up sending the parcel, we will sort it in Cochin where we'll have more time to. We did get some postcards sent though. We then got a rickshaw to the train station. We worked out that our train was going to be delayed, it was supposed to go at 1.05pm but the office had told us after 1.30pm. A few trains did come and go, some haulage trains came they must have been pulling 60 or more carriages. There were quite a few beggars in the train station which wasn't pleasant. Whilst sat waiting for the train an Indian man came and asked where we were from, we replied England, he asked which region, I answered Yorkshire, he asked which part, James answered a seaside town on the coast. The guy then asked if it was Bridlington!!! We were a little but wierded out but he said he has friends from round there and Kelk. He then said he rents out bikes etc and gave us his phone number and email address. When he'd gone we were still shocked that of all the seaside towns on the Yorkshire coast he knew Bridlington! Our train eventually came at 2.25pm. We got into our carriage and found our beds. The train had six beds facing each other on one side of the train with the middle two beds foldable to let everyone sit at the bottom. Then on the other side of the train there were two beds facing the six. James and I had these, I've got the top and James the bottom. It feels very strange lying in bed on a train journey but it was actually quite comfortable! As soon as we got set off they brought round lunch of curry and rice, then a couple of hours later a cup of tea and snacks. A couple of guys working on the train leaned in and spoke very quietly to James, he answered that he didn't want any right now thanks. As soon as they'd moved on I asked what that was about, they had offered him beer! Apparently it was at the back of the train outside. Kerala has very different rules about alcohol consumption and I can only imagine it had something to do with this, funny though. We then got an evening meal, after that most people got into their beds and turned the lights off. We had to make sure we would be awake at around 1.00am as our train would get in at Cochin not long after that then it was carrying on to Trivandrum.
