I don't think anyone opened their eyes much before 9am today, it took a further 2-3 hours for us all to get up and dressed, propper Paris living this is, strolling out to breakfast at 12pm :) A beautiful day we headed to the gardens near Roosevelt square with some supplies from Ave Matignon for a shady bite under a tree. A blissful picnic in the shade was only slightly tarnished by the parisian dog poop on my show, Rob told was an essential part of the whole experience.
The Girls headed off for shopping up the Champs-Elysee while Rob, the Kids and I headed for Ils Saint-Louis.
We had this romantic idea of hiring bikes for the four of us to ride around the Tulleries. On the way down rob asked the kids if they knew what the big building on the left was, he gave them the hint that it was now a gallery that started with L - Emerson nailed it - Louis Vuitton! The Velib system has a Petit version just for little kids that I found on the net this morning. Unfortunately my French was far too poor to realise the kids hire system was only for short little rides. Plans scratched we headed looked around for the next best plan, there peaking over the roof tops was Notre Dame. The kids found a new friend from the Bronx in NY who was playing on the kind of spinning kid flinger nasty people try to ban. Bathroom breaks and kid flinging complete we walked the Notre Dame forecourt before Rob took us to the Shakespeare and Company bookstore. Emerson was infatuated with a picture of Hemingway and his cat whiile Max got all caught up in the cartoon cover of a Candide.
A beer & ice cream in the afternoon sun was the next stop while Emerson worked on her Postcards. Panicked we realised the girls had been left unsupervised along Ave Montaigne for far too long, we hoped a cab and met up with them just as Gab was talking Evie into another dent in the Amex, good save!
The kids and I headed to Chez Francis at the end of Ave Montaigne by the river, the special thing about this place is the view, straight across the river to the tower and wonderful place to watch the sun go down. We sat taking in sun, scenery, Max;s essential Pomme Frittes and various calming concoctions until it was time to get Rob and Evie into a cab for for their trip back to London. The Hugs from Emerson captured just how much fun she has had with her new "Brother and Sister" as she likes to think of them. Just under a year and we'll see them again for their big day!
We headed up to St Augustine to see what we could find for a light dinner. We found a great looking pizza place that Max made a ceaseless case for us to try out. Again our poor french meant it took quite some time before Gab and I realised that there was no meat anywhere on the menu, too hung up on his Ham and Cheese pizza to compromise we headed off to find something for the carnivore. Another day in a string of fantastic ones, tomorrow is Disneyland again and everyone is just as excited as the first time.
