Amy's travels
Hello everyone,
We have spent the last three days in Kuala Lumpur and are planning to get the bus to Melaka on the West Coast tomorrow.
On Sunday we got up bright and early to get the bus from Penang to KL (5am to be precise). The coach turned out to be extremely luxurious with foot rests and properly reclining seats so we slept most of the way back. We checked into the Number 8. Guesthouse in Bintang and realised that we had landed on our feet. The hostel is really modern and is kitted out from IKEA (very trendy), has good internet access, free breakfast and a TV with sofas in the lobby. We went out for a great Thai meal for dinner and I had possibly the nicest green curry ever.
Yesterday we got the Kommuter train to Shah Alam. This is another planned city just outside KL. It was built in the 1970s and you could tell from the style of the architecture. We walked round the lake gardens which were not as landscaped as those in KL but were very peaceful. There is also a very large mosque which was impressive. It rained heavily in the afternoon so we took advantage of the hostel's DVD player and watched Monster in Law with Jane Fonda and Jennifer Lopez....I wouldn't recommend it!
Today we have been busy doing odd jobs and then visiting the National History Museum. The museum is free to enter but quite bizarre. It has one floor dedicated to prehistoric Malays, then a floor about Melaka in the 1400s, and then a final floor about WWII, the Japanese Occupation and the Independence Day. the English signs are quite inconsistent but good when they were present. We met our frind Vincent from the renal camp for dinner. He took us to a Hong-Kong style Chinese restaurant which was very nice but I am not quite sure what the difference between Hong-Kong chinese and regular Chinese is...
Hopeeverybody is well,
Love Amy x x
