Right...now I have left La Paz I can now tell you all about the crazy protesting in La Paz throughout my 8 days there. Didn't mention it before as didn't want to worry anyone but then perhaps you heard all about it on BBC international news.

Soooo.....the police were protesting & rioting as they are seeking better pay & conditions. They currently receive just 1 Boliviano 50 an hour (approximately 15 pence).

They took over many streets surrounding my hostel & were breaking into police stations & government buildings. The air was full of sound of firecrackers &, sadly, even gunfire on occasions.

I was absolutely fine throughout. Was only affected by the tear gas that left my eyes sore but all good now :).
