So on 11th Feb we crossed the border from Mexico to Belize via speedboat!! Leaving Mexico was a touch scary what with all the armed police & sniffer dog inspecting each of our bags. Speedboat took 2 hours to San Pedro, Ambergris Caye. Was ridiculously bumpy (see photo of waves out the door behind my seat) however managed to enjoy an 1 hour Will Smith in Independence Day & the rest napping. Am learning to sleep on anything! Immigration & Customs in...

Like this pelican have spent the day chilling on the Caribbean sea :). Think a spot of shopping is required later...it might not be the King's Road but will try & make do ;)

Yaaaaay have finally arrived on the Caribbean. Sadly also have a cold!! Didn't realise it was possible to have one in the hot! Photo is of my gecko buddy who has sat with me as I catch up on emails! Am doing better with all day bus journeys...good prep for the old, rickety chicken buses in Guatemala. My Spanish seems to have slipped back a little as everyone keeps answering me in English! Right...time to hit la playa!!!

Errrrr all my photos of today's trip to Uxmal & Kabah are on my camera so am attaching photo of Palenque. I know entirely different ruins....but one photo of a temple is better than none. Btw the photo is of the Temple of the Inscriptions where Pakal's tomb & amaaaazing jade mask was discovered. Soooo today...more ruins but they just keep getting better. Top fact for the day... the later period Maya loved a big phallus in the middle of a ceremonial plaza...
