So Christmas is definitely drawing nearer and on Friday we had the school Christmas play (Velada Navideña), which turned out to be a much bigger event than we were expecting. It was also the first Christmas play that I have ever been to that was outside, in bright sunshine, and almost 30 degrees!! It was a little confusing. Each class was performing something for the parents, and I had decided to do a poem with my children called "Christmas Comes". Unfortunately, with preparation for the exams all this week, we had had very little practice and so I was hoping that they had all been practicing at home.
The Velada Navideña officially began at 4, but we had to be there at 3 to be ready for the children to arrive. The school looked very Christmassy, with all the doors decorated, and a big Christmas tree up in front of the office. After checking on the puppies that were born behind the cafeteria last week, and are unbelievably tiny and cute and I want one, we set about doing last minute odd jobs and getting a little less stressed each time one of our children turned up. However, when 4 o'clock rolled around and I still only had 5 of 9 children I was starting to get a little worried…it's kind of difficult to do a poem with only half the lines. We were on second, and luckily Danilo and Anyelina arrived just as preschool began their angels dance (they all looked super cute), giving us just enough time for one final practice. It didn't run quite as smoothly as I would have liked, but most of them had been practicing and were very impressive when it came to their turn and I was very proud of them. And they were of course very cute and lovely which made up for everything!! :D
I was very glad for being so near the beginning as it meant that I could then relax and enjoy the rest of the performances, which were all very good. Especially the nativity that Anna had done with her class.
We are starting to get very very excited about our Christmas holidays now as we break up on Wednesday and will be travelling for 2 and a half weeks!!! It's going to be a very different Christmas this year.
Christmassy love

P.s the photo is from Tornabe a local village, one of my favs.
P.p.s "Fin de Calle" means end of the road, and as you can see the road ends and the lagoon begins :D
