So the football turned out to be an interesting experience. We woke up fairly early and donned our football shirts and waterproofs, yes the first time since we got here that it has rained in the morning and it picked the day of the football. Anyway, I got to wear my purple flowery waterproof for the first time ever. Luckily we were some of the first to get on the minibus which quickly reached double its capacity, one guy came prepared with a bottle of tequila and plastic party cups…classy!! It took us a while to get to the San Pedro, but we finally arrived and followed the crowd towards the stadium. Inside the stadium was mental, the whole crowd was blue and white, any Canadians attending the game were either on the pitch or disguising themselves as Hondurans. There were no actual seats in the stadium just big concrete steps that everybody had to squish themselves on to, and the crowd was crazy…a Mexican wave circled round and round the stadium for about 20 minutes!! There were also lots of people walking round selling lots of delicious looking foods and across the day Anna and I had baleadas, tajadas, and hot dogs, YUM. :D
When the game finally started things went from crazy to just plain wild. Unfortunately, yes unfortunately, Honduras are much much better than Canada at football, and Honduran people love to celebrate their goals. Honduras scored 8 goals, that's almost 1 every 10 minutes, and every time the whole crowd jumped to their feet, and decided it was fun to throw water, soda, beer and CHICKEN over their fellow supporters. It was completely unnecessary for Honduras to score 8 goals, Canada only scored 1. I had to wait almost the whole match to find out what would happen if Canada scored a goal and when it finally happened it was really quite funny, I was about to give the Canadian team a well done clap when the WHOLE crowd when silent as if unaware how to react, then the odd person started booing until the game restarted and Honduras were back "in possession".
The journey home was also a lot of fun, we made friends with some boys over a conversation in broken Spanglish about Manchester United and Liverpool FC, I'm still not sure if they worked out that we had absolutely no idea what we were talking about.
All in all it was a good first ever international football match. :D
Lots of Love

Mumsy Classy shirts! and a good job we got a blueish waterproof rather than a reddish one. With food and drink flying around every 10 minutes you didn't really need to spend any money on hot dogs - just improve your catching skills!
Béla Alex' grandpa. Now you know why I don't go to footbal games. At my age it would be too dangerous. You 3 girls look very nice on the photo. Who is the new one? Love to you and be carefull so that I don't have to worry too much Grandpa
pippa you all look like you are having a great time! Sounds a bit messy though , all that food flying around the place! Pippa,(Anna's mum)
