Last night is the coldest it has been in ages. Many of the other campers in Yulara are unprepared for cold nights! Emily joins us in the bed and we and are toasty. William has adjusted to the camping now and sleeps nice and warm in his sleeping bag. After packing up we have a quick stop at the IGA to stock up on snacks for the drive. A big hello from Uluru. We fill up the petrol tank at Kings Canyon paying a mere $2.19 per litre of petrol. This is the most expensive so far. The drive from Kings canyon is around 300 kms. We are excited to see wild camels on the trip and Mark even spots a black one. We are over 100 kms from the national park when Mark sees Uluru in the distance. He is surprised to see it so far away. When we get a little closer we realise that it is actually Mt Conner. Oops! ...

There is not a cloud in the sky as we say goodbye to Alice Springs. We head to Kings canyon via Ernest Giles road, a 100 km unsealed road. It's bumpy and corrugated at times but Mark enjoys driving the road and it cuts a lot of time off the trip today. We stop at Kings Creek station hoping to book a tent site. It is school holidays and the place is full of school groups. We decide to head to Kings Canyon resort. We are happy with our decision and find ourselves...

Today we head to the West McDonnell ranges. It's quite a drive and we hope to leave early but as usual are running a bit late. We drive for over an hour into the ranges which are some pretty impressive Rocky Mountain that extend either side of Alice Springs. We see only a couple of cars during the drive and some birds. The birds fly in flocks and dart across the road in front of us. It's pretty cool, especially the brightly coloured parrots! We reach Ormiston Go...

Hello Alice my old friend. We love this town and are happy to be back. We take a leisurely drive from Gemtree and arrive around lunchtime. We check into the McDonnell Ranges caravan park and drive to our tent ensuite site - luxury! Surprise, it is right across from the couple we camped next to at Wycliffe Well and Gemtree.
