The tent pack up at Edith Falls seems easy despite the heat. We restock our food at Katherine and drive the 30 km to the Nitmiluk campsite arriving around lunchtime. It's stinking hot and humid. Hello from Edith Falls. We arrive around 10:30 and book ourselves into the campground. Emily is asleep so we quickly get to work putting up the tent. It takes a bit of time as we have to put the new poles in. Emily wakes and does her best to assist/slow us down. The tent seems to be staying up so we are off to a good start. We get a call from BCF at 9:30 in the morning. Our tent poles have arrived. We pick them up, stock up on food and head for Kakadu. This is the third time in 4 days we drive this stretch of the Arnhem highway. We are pretty familiar with the scenery. Lots of medium sized and short trees that are fairly dense so you can't see a lot further than several metres on each side of the road. This doesn't change when we enter Kakadu. We are off to Darwin again in search of our new air poles. We try a new tactic this morning and pack the car then stop in the camp kitchen for a late breakfast. This allows us to pack up before it gets too hot. I'm not sure the kids like this idea though as towards the end they are quite grizzly. Hi from Mary River, home to the biggest concentration of salt water crocodiles in the world. The only crocs we have seen so far on this trip have been in tanks! An easy 90 minute drive from Darwin we arrive here at lunchtime. We pitch our tent and have just sat down when the "wallaby show" begins.
