Today we head to the West McDonnell ranges. It's quite a drive and we hope to leave early but as usual are running a bit late. We drive for over an hour into the ranges which are some pretty impressive Rocky Mountain that extend either side of Alice Springs. We see only a couple of cars during the drive and some birds. Hello Alice my old friend. We love this town and are happy to be back. We take a leisurely drive from Gemtree and arrive around lunchtime. Hi from Alice Springs. Well we have really lucked on some warm weather here. The 3 days we have been here it has been between 25 and 30. We get all our washing done (the hotel has a great wee self serve laundry with a clothesline). Mark takes Emily for her first time in the pool (which isn't heated!) Mark woke early and couldn't get back to sleep so got up and proceeded to pack up the tent around us and make breakfast for the road. Yep, he's a keeper! So, we hit the road at 8 and drive for 2 hours. In that time we see 2 groups of brumbys, 2 small herds of cattle, a few birds, some grey nomads and several road trains, today we see our first 4 trailer road train - it's crazy how long these vehicles are!
