We wake up to another sunny day of cloudless skies. We realise we haven't had a drop of rain for over 7 weeks. As Victorians this is highly unusual. Mark cooks us a yummy breakfast of fried egg wraps followed by caramelised bananas and yoghurt cooked on the grass in front of the tent. He even has to move the car to give us some shade.
We are surprised by the number of road trains heading north. We would have seen at least 50, so much so that we stopped commenting on them. Later "Banka Banka" Bob tells us that Sunday is road train day and that on Tuesday they will all be heading south again.
We pull into Banka Banka station at lunchtime. Bob checks us in and gives us 2 icy poles for the kids. We are the only campers. It isn't until mid afternoon that the grey nomads start arriving. When we depart the following morning at 9:10 we are the only campers left. This seems to be the norm. People pull in late and depart early.
We join "Banka Banka" Bob, his wife Marie and some random guy with his 2 year old son Sheldon for some Fathers Days beers. Bob and Marie are pretty relaxed and good to chat to. They are one of the highlights of this place.
