Morning all
We left Coral Bay under a sky that promised rain but after a few hours cruising North were in sunshine again that has stayed with us. It was good to be cruising again crossing those never ending plains where you can see for about 30 k/m in any direction and then across low hilly terrain with magnificent rock formation. After a enjoyable 430k/m taking 6 hours we pulled in to the roadside bush camp of Robe River along with 20 odd others for the night. It's a roomy well laid out camp where we had a good yap with another happy camper before lights out and a reasonable sleep. Next morning it was a normal easy breakfast and yes last out of camp again before hitting the road for a easy 150 k/m into Karrtha where we plan to spend about 4 nights.
The van was booked in for a over due service then after a wonder about town and lunch we headed out to our favourite camping ground from last year to book in. It's really spacious with nice big trees and good parking pads but those parrots seem to be more prolific and noisier than we remembered. Sitting out side after dark in these warm temps is great and we were joined by a couple of neighbours for a good chat over a few drinkies till it was time to get the BBQ out for dinner at about 8.30pm. It is a bit of a struggle again getting used to sleeping in about 23 deg. overnight so no blankets required ! You have to keep the windows closed so the "&:<£*#¥" parrots don't keep you awake. Paradise always has a down side. Driving out to the seaside port of Dampier ( the photo of Steph with the famous Red Dog ) was really cool again and we would have spent a night there but the camp is beside the iron ore port train tracks so we decided to stick with the ( lovely parrots ). After phoning up people we met last time they invited us to a BBQ at their place on on Thurs. night so looking forward catching up with them then. The re stock of the van took forever but it's done and so now it's time to just chill out and enjoy this special place.
