Greetings readers. The drive from Meekatharra north was through more dry and open scrubby country with not much wildlife spotted apart from a lone dingo on the road who did not hang around. After a easy 150 odd k/m's under a overcast sky that threatened rain we pulled into another roadside camp with several other campers for the night. The road trains seemed to be one after the other during the day and only slightly fewer during the night. Most that want to pass you were doing the 110 k/m speed limit which kept me on my toes! After the usual relaxed breakfast we hit the road again travelling through more open plains with not much but red dust and scrub. The feed back was not too good on the Newman camping ground so we opted to camp outside the visitors centre along with a few others and for a charge of just $10 had the use of a dump station and a fresh water supply.
Not that much to see here as it is just a big mining town built around the huge iron ore mine. Lots of indigenous people wandering about and seemingly endless traffic of white 4x4 mine vehicles all with their little red flags and a red light on top at night on their aerials. Next stop Karijini National Park.
