Woke up at 9am and had breakfast in the club lounge then got our day packs together and went for walk around the old town, Gamle Stan.
Started at Riddarhuset, the House of the Nobility before walking past the Riddarkyrkan (church) to the terrace on the western side of Riddarholmen island with views over to the surrounding islands.
Walked down the narrow streets to the Tyskakyrkan (German Church) then up the eastern side of the island with its narrow cobblestoned lanes to the Storkyrkan (Royal Cathedral) and then on to the Royal Palace for the changing of the guard.
We managed to get a good spot at the front for the changing of the guard ceremony and then bought tickets to go into the palace once the ceremony had ended.
The Royal Apartments and the Treasury were closed for renovations so went to the Tre Kronor museum with artefacts from the old castle that burned down in 1697 and also the Gustav III's antiquities museum with a couple of rooms of statues the king bought back in the 1700's.
Walked down to the T-Station and caught the train back to the central station and had lunch then went back to hotel for a rest before resuming our walk visiting the Riksdag (parliament building) and taking some pictures of the other side of the Royal Palace as well as the Opera House and National Museum.
Returned to the hotel and had dinner at the hotel restaurant then checked emails and sent an email to everyone before having a beer and coffee at the bar (free with voucher from lady at club lounge) and then back to the room for showers and bed before our day trip to Uppsala tomorrow.
