Up at 7.30am then breakfast at 8am. We walked across St.Mark's Square to go to the Tourist Information Centre for a map and Vaporetto timetable. Office was closed for renovations so we were directed to another office in the Venice Pavilion. Walked around to Venice Pavilion and waited for the office to open at 10am.
Managed to check out the Vaporetto timetable while we were waiting and choose which one we would catch back to the train station the next day. Decided to catch the number 1 Vaporetto at 6.30am.
Took some pictures of the Grand Canal then went into the Tourist Information office. Got a map which was the same as the one we already had and then walked back to St.Mark's Square for some photos of the Bell Tower, square and Basilica. Went to the top of the Bell Tower for some magnificent views of Venice.
Walked across to the Basilica to have a look around entering via trestle tables as there was still some water on the floor. Walked further on to the Rialto Bridge for some more photos. Had lunch then walked on to the Bridge of Sighs for even more photos. More walking this time through the recently concluded fish market to see Ca d'Oro, a Venetian palace on the Grand Canal.
Walked all the way around to the train station in the hope of catching a vaporetto back to St.Mark's Square but due to a transport strike there were no vaporettos running until after 5pm so we had to walk all the way back.
Rested in our room for a while then decided to look for a supermarket we had passed on our
journey around Venice. Wandered aimlessly in circles without any luck for 20 minutes before finally stumbling upon it and buying some supplies. Dropped off our shopping at the hotel and went looking for an internet cafe. Found one but the prices were ridiculously expensive so we decided to wait until we got to Florence.
Back to the hotel for a while then went out for dinner at a nearby pizzeria which had a Tropical pizza that had pineapple, strawberries, kiwi fruit and canteloupe on it!! Back to the hotel again to get our bags packed for our early exit the next morning.
