Day 74
Technically it's day 1 all over again, but it has been 74 days since I left Pennsylvania back on August 9th. Crazy!
I did spend about a month's worth of sunny beautiful days back in Albuquerque, but as luck would have it....YES...you would be right in donning your raingear for this mornings trip!
sigh
thankfully it didnt rain hard, but it was cold. Only in the upper 40's. Oddly enough, tonight in Flagstaff, AZ. (where I am sleeping) it's going down to a low of 28! Glad I left all that camping gear back in NM.
Today's ride was raher boring. Just a straight shot on Hwy 40 from Albuquerque to Flagstaff. I'm about 100 miles if that from the Grand Canyon. From the South entrance to be exact. There was not much to see on the roadside today, though a few nice mountain-ish areas did pop up, and I got a great shot with Gingy, but you'll have to check the book of face to see it.
I also left a lot of stuff behind on this part of the trip. All of my camping gear since I knew the nights would be too cold for camping, and then all of my tools since I really didnt use them at all except once up North in Montana. So that left my saddle bags back home and also my guitar didnt make this trip. So it's just me, my sissy bar bag and my trusty insurance policy...aka the mini gas can. So the bike rides nice with all that weight removed, though I kinda miss the guitar as a back rest, but I'll manage. It WOULD be nice to have Ashley on the back as I got accumstomed to that REAL fast riding around NM the past month. sigh
Why is it that the same a****** in the motel parking lot always seems to have issues with his car alarm going off multiple times during the night? Loser!
So, It would seem that my body has to get re-accustomed to riding many miles again. Maybe I got soft, but todays ride of 332 miles was a little grueling on my legs. The cold and rain didnt help either I suppose. I did do a whole lot of thinking today during the ride. About life, and where it takes you and what I'm going to do in the near future...which trusty readers... I just don't really know.
Ok, so before I bore you all, Im off. Tomorrow I ride into Nevada just south of Vegas. I also see that the Phils are winning 6-3 in the 5th inning! awesome!
Can someone mail me a phillies shirt? I need to represent out here in NM. Large is my size! send it to
