Day 30
Wow. A whole month.
WOW.... I need a moment to think here. It's funny when you are riding you have all the time in the world to think. It's more or less all you do. Then I try to jot down these ideas in my journal, though I miss most of them, and then sit here later in the day trying to remember them all.
I can't believe I've been gone for 30 days! It's really crazy. I mean, I have so many great memories and had so many awesome times on this trip so far. So now, 30 days later... I'm torn between, actually getting used to being on the road finally. meaning. Its just become a way of life for me now. But on the other hand. I really feel the need for a break from this trip. To not be on the bike for days, weeks, however long it takes really to get the bite to want to go out again.
For instance. My ride through yellowstone was pretty cool today, but in all seriousness. I'm sort of numb to it all. Yellowstone pales in comparison to jasper or Banff. Not even close. the Geysers are very cool, but thats all I really felt the need to stop for. So after 30 days of mountains and forests and rocks, and trees. they're all getting to sort of bland together if you will. So, I think its time to take a break from the ...well....break.
So I'm sitting in a motel in Jackson Wyoming. The chain on the bike is getting too loose now and I really need to find a mechanic to replace it. I might be able to push on to the next big town, but don't wanna push it too far and then break down in the middle of nowhere. In the last 30 days, I've put over 8,000 miles on the bike, and its just basically going through routine matainence.
I should also mention, that yesterday I spent some time in Montana looking for a wrench so I could adjust the bikes chain, but its pushed as far as it will go now. SO i hope tomorrow I can call this bike shop and take it from there.
so...back to Yellowstone.....uhm.... it was honestly just "OK" I saw only one buffalo, and like 4 sleeping Caribou. that was it!!! I saw WAAAAY more wildlife in British Columbia. and still no bears!!!!! wtf?!?! I really thought it would be wildlife galore there, but it really kind of sucked after Canada.
Yellowstone was also filled with TONS of traffic from tourists and way too much road construction. So yes...todays drive was back on a lot of gravel and dirt again for a good 10 miles.
offexploring here finally uploaded all my videos, so theres a whole bunch you can all check out now, and i also upp'd a few more pictures.
So, hopefully i will get a new chain soon. I really dont want to have to sit here in a hotel for days and wait , but we'll see. making it to New mexico would be ideal, so then I can just drop off the bike for a week and not have to worry about needing it. But, thats a good 1200 miles still to go from here in Wyoming, and Not so sure it will make it that far.
soooooo
219 miles today
8,140 total miles
Im in need of a good long break and then figure out what the next move is and when.
Miss everyone!!
