Hi again and so sorry for the delay in writing but we've had some days off for public holidays and the computers at the guest house are broken!!
Lots to tell, but I'll have to do it gradually.......so I'll start with the trip to the fish and egg farm. New Hope has had some donations from a guy called Tony Munroe who's from Australia, is sort of semi-retired and has money, which he is putting into developing the farms. The chickens were delivered a couple of weeks ago and as you can see from the photos, they're not exactly free range!! It's hard to justify worrying about the chickens when they are better fed that most of the people round here. They also get regular doses of vitamins, flu vaccines and other medicines so I guess that makes them pretty lucky all in all. The fish farm will start being developed in the new year and the idea is that whilst providing essential food, they can also be used to educate the locals to enable them to be more self-sufficient in the longer term.
We rode out to the farms in the back of a truck and didn't realise how far away they were...........I had a bad case of sunburn but managed to scrounge a place in the cab on the way back, thankfully.
