Today we went to Chepstow Castle which has been on that site since 1067. It has a cliff down to the Wye river on one side and the town on the other. It basically had three lives over from the start until 1690 when the last people left. It is a really long and then castle which is now a ruin with only a few bits of roof left. We climbed up and down the walls and the various towers which was really cool.
I liked going up spiral staircases and looking out the windows on the way. The walls are really thick and you can imagine all the battles that went on there. The view out to the river was great, though the river is very brown following all the rain, but today we had no rain and hardly any cloud which was a big surprise because the UK is pretty wet and cloudy.
The photo is of a sculpture in the middle of the castle which was made of cane wrapped around a metal frame. It was the only non original thing there.
Before we left we bought a very yummy ice cream, I had a very creamy vanilla and Darcy had chocolate with choc chip.
