Days 318-321, 26-29 Apr '15, The time has come... the end is near, it's time to take... the final curtain... Believe it or not, our time in Spain has drawn to a close and the lovely people of Fuengirola put on a fair to celebrate (commiserate?) our departure. OK. Might have been a coincidence - but the Fair of International Places started the night of the 29th. First off we enjoyed a long, lazy day with sunbeds, parasols and fish & chips on the beach (recovering from a thoroughly over-indulgent night at La Casa Rustica - didn't get home til 1.30 am. Yes. In the morning!) Even supported the local cash economy and had a massage from one of the strolling beach-massage ladies. Ahhhh. Summer is here. We finally dragged our sandy selves back to the hotel and got kidnapped en route by a good friend and spirited off for drinks and tapas... OK back to the hotel, quick change routine and off to the Recinto Ferial (the fairground). I was only expecting a small fair and didn't want to build it up too much for James (by comparing it to the big September fair last year). Wow - we were so impressed. The theme of the fair was "Around the World in 5 days". There were something like 40 different pavilions covering countries from all over the world with cuisine, drinks and musical performances. So. Much. Fun. We visited old favourites like Mexico and places we've not yet been like Jamaica, Bolivia and Cuba. Listened to a few bands, enjoyed the pretty lights. Felt sick looking at the fairground rides and then trundled home via our local pizza joint. Sat on the beach for the last time and snuffled pizza for a very late dinner. Meanwhile thanking all our lucky stars tomorrow's flight doesn't depart til 4 pm. Not surprisingly, slept very, very well.
