Day 115, 5 Oct 2014, Fuengirola. My downtime in town time mini-vacation is going swimmingly. Not actually swimming mind you - the Mediterranean is f-f-f-frrreeeezzing!!! Still lovely to get up a 8 am or so and tootle down to the beach to watch the sun rise out of the ocean. I enjoy a walk along the beach then usually hunt some breakfast - being careful to remember my favourite joints in order to take James back there in February when we return to Spain. Had a big buffet today for €6 / A$9. It wasn't the best breakfast buffet I've ever had - but it's the best you'll get on the coast for the price. Great stuff. Even told them so and promised to bring my husband back next time we're here. Given that I headed through it like a locust they probably have my photo behind the counter now with a warning to keep me away. But, it kept me going till dinner. Which was going to be at a restaurant that does Paella by the plate on Sunday. Normally you have to order it for two people minimum, but on Sunday they cook up a big cauldron. And apparently it was all snuffled up at lunchtime. Darn. All dressed up and no place to go. Figured out Plan B on the fly and decided to enjoy la comida Mexicana instead (that's Mexican food). Can't say it has ever done a lot for me as it sometimes seems to be just food origami - 100 different ways to fold mince and taco shells. But I found a family run taqueria and had chicken nachos (hmmmmm) and, get this, my very first Corona with a lemon wedge in the spout. Here they're called Coronitas... fairly sure it's cos of a slightly smaller bottle to allow you to enjoy the beer before the climate warms it through. Anyway. What to do with the lemon? Drink past it? Risky. Push it in? Don't think so... Ended up taking it out. I have since investigated and discovered pushing it into the bottle was in fact the correct answer. Might have to do it again before I leave. Fuengirola's Feria opens tomorrow night - woo hoo! Bring on the bright lights, loud music and carnival atmosphere.
