Day 45, 27 July 2014, Fuengirola, Spain - Got taken down the hill for a drive today for a bit of orientation of the town. Great fun - now know where the markets are, the inexpensive fish restaurants on "Fish Alley" (only €7 for the Menu del Dia), the Post Office, the supermarkets, the bus station where my local bus will drop me - all sorts of handy things. Despite already having had breakfast at 8.30 am after the cats yowled "wake up", I tried another breakfast at about 12.30 pm... very spanish - toasted bread with olive oil and a tomato mixture, along with a coffee - all very good. Once the ongoing electrical issue (or more specifically the ongoing lack of an electrician issue) is resolved, I have many day trips to do to explore the surrounding area. The beaches of the Costa del Sol on a Sunday were seething with locals and tourists alike - sun umbrellas, beach chairs and roasty-toasty bodies just shoulder to shoulder - must pay attention to when the sun goes down - definitely want to stroll along the beach at sunset. On our way home we stopped across the road at Lew Hoad's tennis club. In the learn something everyday department, he was apparently an Australian who won Wimbledon in the '50s and set up this club in the '60s, so when the wind is right I hear the thwack of tennis balls. Actually thought a coconut had landed on the roof earlier today, but when it rolled down and fell in the garden it was only a tennis ball afterall. Swim in the pool, read on the sofa, perusal of local English language newspaper... all good. After a couple of days of sheer laziness I'll be more than ready to get out and explore... meanwhile... where's that book?
