Tuesday 23rd October 2018 - The weather has been dull, overcast and cool over the last few weeks. When the sun has come out it's been nice but as soon as it goes down it get cold - we're just not used to the cooler weather Ha! Ha!.
We're on our way to Mandurah that is known for the Peel-Harvey Estuary with its wildlife and migratory waterbirds. We parked up & walked along the marina spotting a darter drying its wings in the sunshine before continuing to our next stop at Clifton Lake to view the Thrombolites that are rare rock-like micro-organism formations that grow in fresh water.
We walked out through trees and shrubs to view the Thrombolites. Phil wasn't very impressed and thought that they were just another bunch of underwater boulders. We walked back from the blue water of the 20m long lake leaving the Trombolities behind and made our way towards the carpark. We didn't head off straight away as we took a minor detour to the Bouvard Winery & Brewery to sample their beer.
Our next stop was at Martins Tank campsite located in the Yalgorup National Park were we spent the night parked amongst the shady Tuart and Peppermint trees with the birds flitting around in the canopies above. We also saw a Motorbike Frog.
