Tuesday 20th November 2018 - After an unsettled night of rain and high winds we woke to a dull and overcast morning. It seems that we had enjoyed the best of the weather and it's time to move on.
We packed up and drove with fields of wheat and mallee on either of the road before taking a short cut across country saving us 70kms to Stokes Inlet a campground within the Stokes National Park.
On arrival we parked, set up camp amongst the trees nestled beside the fast running water of the in,et and had lunch watching New Holland Honeyeaters and Silvereyes flitting in between the plants that surrounded our site.
We then took a drive around to the head of the Inlet intending to drive the short 4WD track and to take a walk along the trail but was surprised to find that the tack and part of the trail were flooded and inaccessible. We wandered along the edge of this wide Inlet with turbulent water lapping at the shore and stood to watch a lone Pelican swim back and forth in front of the partially submerged trees.
Finding that there seemed not to be much going on we made our way back to camp occasionally stopping along the way to look at the birds, kangaroos & wildflowers.
We later joined the camp host and some other campers for "Happy Hour" before it began to rain again, so we bid goodbye and headed back to our site for an early dinner.
