Tuesday 9th October 2018 - After an early night we still woke up with the birds, had breakfast and made our way into Geraldton to re-stock. We bumped into a couple from the Eco Abrolhos, Helen & Kevin and reminisced about the great time we'd had before continuing on our way to Fishermans Wharf where we bought a large Cuttlefish for the freezer. The only thing now is how do we cook it??
We then set off for Dongara another coastal town and port where we set up camp and spent the afternoon sorting everything out.
Wednesday 10th October 2018 - Today we just pottered around doing some chores.
Thursday 11TH October 2018 - We packed up and moved to a 24hr free camp on the outskirts of Dongara. Parked and spent some time putting a plan together for the following week. Had lunch, unhitched the caravans and then went for a drive around Dongara/Port Denison.
We stopped at the Pinnacle that over looked the harbour and the beach and viewed the information board that showed the numerous reef that could be seen offshore. Then we drove down to the east beach and went for a walk before deciding to investigate the west beach.
We drove along the firm white sand of the west beach and stopped to watch the waves crashing on the shoreline. Because the sand was so packed down we didn't need to deflate our tyres - Yey!
This is a nice part of the coast but one thing lets it down; the beaches are covered in seaweed, washed up by the stormy seas. Plus when the wind is in the wrong direction it smells…
We then visited the Historic Priory Hotel for a beer that had been built in 1881. It was a lovely old building that unfortunately was in need of some TLC. The two storey stone building had once been a colonial inn, an exclusive girl's school and St Dominic's Priory.
Dinner tonight was at the Dongara Motel/Hotel restaurant that was a bit average, well I guess we forgot we weren't in Melbourne Ha! Ha!
