Went to the bridge over the river Kwai today which was good. We started off at some museum which was dull but we only spent like 5 mins there. From the museum it was a 5 minute walk to the bridge. On the way we saw a leapord chained up in a cafe. It looked domesticated but I took a photo from a safe distance just in case! The bridge was smaller from what I remember but Rikki pointed out that I was just bigger than I was before. Fair point. We walked over the bridge which was good but, again, too many tourists. The atmosphere was ruined though by some guy playing lady Gaga on his violin half way across the bridge.
We were then driven 30 minutes to a train station and boarded the train which would last about 50 minutes. We went across the 'The Death Railway" which was cool and learnt about how the railway was built. We also learnt some history about Burma which reminded me of Grandpa. After the train it was lunch time, which was a buffet down on the river bank. This was shortly followed by a bamboo raft. I thought some guy would be using an orr at the front whilst me and Rikki sat at the back. We were attached to a speed boat and towed instead. Still fun though.
We were dropped off at the local waterfall which was poor compared to the one in Laos. It was full of fat Russian men wearing speedos. My eyes hurt. Thankfully we only spent 20 minutes there and we were then taken to see the elephants. This was the highlight of the day as the elephant driver guy let us sit on the elephant. And I mean on its head with our legs tucked up behind the ears and not sat on the proper seat thing. We then fed the elephants and one dribbled trunk snot all down my shirt. Gross. Serves me right for sitting on its head I suppose.
A 3 hour bus journey back to Bangkok was slow but we have had worse journeys so far. Tomorrow we get the overnight bus to Chumphon and then the ferry over to Ko Pha-ngan. The beach awaits...

Judd Mum and I are just getting greener and greener with envy. Wish we were there. Some of the places you mention evoke so many memories. Really enjoy reading your blogs. It makes our nite! That's how sad we have become. Not much goss, but that's Nats job. Went to hers last night for tea. Awesome shepherds pie. Airline food but the girl does good with the flavour. She gave us some wine that some random ex had given to her. Turned out to be mega proof, sending your mum squiffy just sniffing it. I slept for a while in her seat on the sofa. I leave you to imagine her chunterings. Hope u got my text saying to for my pressie x
