Arrived into Chiang Mai around 8am this morning on the sleeper train which was awesome! Rikki didnt agree as I got the bigger bunk! The train was better than any in England, it was also on time. However it did take 14 hours!
We had breakfast on the way to the hotel before dropping our bags off and going immediately to a Thai cooking class. Before starting the class we had a trip to the local market to pick up our ingredients!! We cooked 4 dishes each which included soup, a curry, noodles and Rikki cooked Spring rolls, I had Thai fish cakes (red snapper was the fish) and the teacher said I was the best :) I think she just fancied me and wanted a visa.
We are going to a Buddist temple soon which is situated on a hill so you get a good view of Chiang Mai, and at 6pm the monks start chanting. Later tonight we are going for a few beers and to watch a lady boy show! Should be interesting. Might be a career worth persuing if I take to it.
Tomorrow we have a 5/6 hour drive up to Laos, and the day after next we have a boat trip along the Mekong Delta. Might not be able to update the blog for a while as I dont know what Laos will be like.
Cheers all the best x
