We were up at 5am this morning and watched a beautiful sunrise over Lake Kununurra. As we were trying to get ready Bronte was complaining of a soar tummy and she was hot, sweaty and clammy looking (it was bad timing as we were going away today to a remote area). Luckily after 30 mins she was back to her usual self. The kids fed bread to the fish and we left the caravan park around 7am for the one hour drive to El Questro. We had to go through two water crossings to get into Emma Gorge Resort to collect our wilderness pass then we continued to Zebedee Springs (a series of rocky thermal pools and small waterfalls, set amongst a back drop of sheer cliffs and livistonia palms). The rocks are slippery and of course I made a grand entrance slipping straight in (hurting my arm but luckily the camera which also fell was fine) which the kids thought was so funny. We played in the springs for about 2 hours as Josh loved talking to everyone (we were sitting in our own hole having a relaxing time and he kept asking if we could go down the bottom so he could talk to other people, I think he is bored of us). We then went back to Emma Gorge for the 3.2km gorge walk. It was really hot at 35 degrees and unshaded with lots of boulders to climb over so we found it a really hard walk. The kids had to be carried most of the way so that made it worse. We arrived at Turquoise pool and were very tempted for a swim but continued to the end and it was gorgeous. There was a huge waterhole with a droplet waterfall enclosed on three sides by 65m sheer cliffs and thermal water trickles from the rocks on the right hand side. The waterhole was freezing but very refreshing after the hot walk. The kids and I swam and played in the thermal water instead. On our way back we saw a snake in the water and some rocket frogs (which were Josh's highlight of the day). We checked into Emma Gorge Resort and are glamping. The elevated tent is huge with a queen bed and two single beds and a large bathroom. We went for a swim in the resort pool, which is also freezing cold. We then had a drink outside our tent enjoying the tranquillity before dinner. We went to the restaurant for dinner which is open air and it was very pleasant. The food was beautiful and we had calamari, crumbed cod fillet, grilled barramundi and chips. We then looked at some photos from the wet season and cyclones which have hit the area. The pictures are great and it would be great to be here to see volumes of water. We then headed back to our tent and the kids are very excited with their new beds for the night.
