252 kms / 3 ¾ hrs
We were hoping for a sleep in this morning but unfortunately the kids were up very bright and early and they were very whingy. So we all woke up pretty grumpy this morning plus Bronte broke our new dvd player so that is the 3rd one broken this holiday. We went for a walk to Spring Creek but there wasn't any water in the creek so the kids had a quick play in a big hole which has been dug out by a digger and then we left around 8am.
I think a few caravaners were waiting for someone else to leave so they didn't have to open the gate as we ended up being first to the gate with about 4 caravans and a tour bus behind us. This time Rog helped me open the broken gate so the kids didn't get to laugh at me again. I then waved everyone else through and closed the gate behind everyone. We had only been back on the main road about 5 mins when another caravan decided to overtake us on double white lines. They then cut back in too quickly in front of us (I think they forgot they were towing) and we don't know how the caravan didn't miss smashing into our car. I think it took a good 30 mins for our hearts to stop pounding. We thought the Bungles were the dangerous road not the highway!
We then stopped at Warmun Roadhouse for fuel and it has been the most expensive so far at $2.09. They must also have a lot of problems as you have to provide them with your credit card or drivers license before they will unlock the fuel pump.
We arrived at Kununurra around 11:45am and checked into the Big 4 caravan park at Lake Kununurra. Our site is right on the lake and Bronte was very excited pointing out a bird sitting on a crocodile and Rog and I couldn't stop laughing as the crocodile is actually just a tyre! We had lunch and Rog washed the car and I did a load of washing.
We then visited the tourist information centre, shopped for groceries, refuelled the car then headed back to the caravan park for a swim. We then quickly got dinner ready so we could have a BBQ overlooking the lake. There is a freshwater crocodile that comes right to the waters edge so there were lots of people sitting down having a drink and watching the beautiful sunset on the lake and looking at the crocodile. Josh and Bronte loved it, they were busy looking at the crocodile and talking to everybody. Someone gave them each a packet of chips also.
We had sausages for dinner and then we had to try to pull the kids away so we could go back to the caravan but they didn't want to leave as they were still too busy talking to everyone, looking at the crocodile and watching the bats.
We are off to El Questro tomorrow and glamping overnight, which we are all looking forward to.
