30 August 2015 Sunday
Still morning with the estuary at fairly low tide - a still morning promising to turn into a hot day.
Mal went out early to take out a few low hanging branches which he had missed on the way in - he made himself an extension for his bush saw, so he can get the higher ones that rub on Vicki's roof.
We had breakfast and Sue settled down to do some wagon work and Mal worked on his painting - we moved the camper into the shade it was so hot and just before lunch Mal ran the generator so we could have a cool down over lunch.
No sign of any crocs but are there somewhere.
After lunch we drove out to Low lake for a look and then on to see Nyford Plain - we picked a spot and while we expected no shade we were not counting on a cool breeze which made the afternoon very pleasant.
We waited till sunset for some photos and then drove over to Hann River as the moon rose above the trees and as we forded the river it was reflected in the river.
We saw some sort of Owl on the road as we drove into the campground and finally found the little number 2 up on a tree saying this is your spot. It is embarrassing how easy it is to set up camp - 5 minutes without exaggeration.
A light snack while the water heated for a splendid shower and we were ready for what ever the night could throw at us.
Monday 31 August
First up we walked back to the main road before the heat set in - the river is amazing and Hann River is a great place to stop for several days - they day was already heating up so back to camp we trudged.
We hauled water up out of the creek - we could not see the snappies but we knew they were there.
Mal caught up on some painting and travel blog and Sue poked around.
In the afternoon we again went for a walk down to the crossing - just fantastic rock pools and trees and natural stuff. Mal thought one goes to Europe to admire and be inspired by the achievements of European civilization - one travels to Cape York to be inspired by God's creation of the natural world - we like to call him Hughie.
Sue lit a fire and we baked some spuds for tea in the coals - as the dark set in a crocodile's eyes could be seen in the river - they are scary that is for sure.
Mal took a photo of Vicki camped by the river - and then off to bed.
