Day Eight - Wednesday
The sun came up this morning like a lava lamp - squeezed by the thick bands of cloud - a large soft orange globule of light.
The ducks swam on regardless and the swans lost none of their regal countenance. Large paperbark trees sat contented on broad complex woven cushions of roots and the breeze stroked the lake urging it to wake to the new day.
We broke camp, drove around in circles for a bit till we finally headed west towards Mt Coolan. The road once past the Peabody mine was dirt / gravel / bull dust / corrugations - etc.
Mt Coolan is fantastic - an old gold mine - that has not been tidied up and sanitized. We had lunch there after poking around the old mine.
We then headed North on the road to Ravenswood. We stopped by Manheim River about 40k's south of the Burdiken Dam.
The country is dry, dry, dry - many of the cattle look like they would love a big green grass burger, with or without fries.
We sat outside as the sun washed the Western sky orange fading through grey to pale blue.
