Monday 17th
Packing up
The water refill not quite there
Meeting up with T&P
The food store
Sue chatted with the service station man - she commented on the fuel prices being so reasonable.
Lowest in 5 years
Still expensive at the Jardine
Well the truth is they don't know how to change the price on the bowser so it just stays where it got to.
Driving through to the tip on the "private Road"
The first creek crossing
The Croc Tent
The young lady at the croc ternt, told us how she realized what a cold puss She is. Recently she was cuddled up on the couch watching TV with a doona and slippers one cold night. Later she found out the temp had dropped to an almost artic 22.5 degrees.
She laughed a most delightful laugh - she is a very special young lady.
We drove out to Punsand Bay and stopped at Cable Beach for morning tea and considered camping there but finally deferred and drove on to the resort where we were able to get some bore water. Mal liked the idea of Pizza but again we deferred and headed to the tip via the Croc Tent junction.
Half way there we had to stop on a steep rutted section of road and back up to allow the first of several vehicles to pass. There ended up being 15 vehicles - well that ended up being OK as when we finally walked out to the tip we were the only ones there so we had plenty of time to soak in the magic of the place.
We walked back across the beach as the tide was fairly out and tried to get a sausage out of a bunch of young guys who had trotted out the BBQ - but the sausage sizzle was over and we were out of luck.
We drove on back the way we had come and then turned left and headed for Somerset. We arrived, the tide was out and we set up camp, T&P scrounged fire wood, Sue cooked tea and we settled out to a pleasant evening with a firm sea breeze.
Tuesday 18th August
Well the plan to walk to the aboriginal cave paintings came to an abrupt holt when we found we could not even get to the rocks.
Tom and Mal tried to find a route over the hill but returned having not found a way to the cave - in the afternoon we walked around the rocks and were stunned by the beauty of the cave an it's art works - most mysterious.
