I was back in the Blue. It was hard to keep track of jumping from time zone to time zone and back again. I guess like commuting into the city for an hour or so with the inconvenience of traffic jams on the motorway... I got used to the interludes.
The Blue had no rubbish, no packaging, no smelly refuse and no bodily secretions to dispose of, either hygienically or otherwise.
So many things change when there is immense consciousness without the organic basis.
In Fiji, on one occasion, the locals served us up a meal on disposable banana leaf plates. Well of course they didn't need a dishwasher. The leaves were discarded and micro organisms chomped away and left some by-products for the worms and plants to feast on. In Broome, Western Australia we saw midden heaps, who knows how old, of sea shells which had served as single use spoons and then been discarded. No recycling in mind and perhaps little up-cycling.....though I have no doubt some shells were used for other utilitarian purposes.
My mentor in the realm explained about the history of pollution. See ever since the Singularity Project began, digital memory kept on building. Information rich systems could weave together an objective and waverly view. Oh "waverly", I guess I have to try and explain. Given that particles or objects can also be perceived as energy rather than matter, so in the future there is information which is perceived from the energy perspective rather than the particle (or object/material) view point, hence a waverly view.
Oh do not despair, matter still exists in the distant future, it is just that the perception of that matter is balanced against the latent or active energy involved.
So the humans had produced not only marvellous inventions, they had also produced a lot of by products other than soiled banana leaves and discarded shells. I have to add for the sake of the subject at hand, an ancient artefact of the 21stcentury,a McDonalds paper cup was holding pride of place on an energy platform.
The humans had produced all this rubbish. Unfortunately the traditional micro organisms were thriving but lithium batteries and other heavy metals and synthetic dyes and chemicals were taking their toll turning the soil into a toxic museli with no organic appeal as food.
So some smart human team came up with a new micro organism which could devour rubbish.I mean all rubbish, organic and inorganic. The by-product of this VastarebacterTransorium was electricity and a new type of grey sand. This grey sand was inert and able to take the place of most plastics at one end of the spectrum and many metals at the other end of a more complex manufacturing process. It was hailed as the ultimate sustainable solution. While there were still small deposits of low grade coal still available, the cost of extraction was high and the alternative uses for the carbon meant it was no longer used for energy production.
So it seemed that all the planets woes were to be finished and like a fairy tale everyone would live happily ever after. In fairness it did usher in a period of exceptional optimism. It was this optimism which contributed significantly to the Singularity Project's success.
"Mr McAdam!", a young voice came over a loud speaker somewhere in the foggy distance.
I rolled over and rubbed my eyes as I tried to make sense of the voice.
The white ceiling catching light reflected off that shiny septic hospital floor.
The young nurse, patiently waiting, medication in hand.
Ahh yes today we had another session with the psychistrist.
We had discussed both the content of my dreams and also my head injuries. I think Dr Lawrence was a man with insatiable curiosity and I suspect he was extending my imposition on his official time for his own personal reasons. Lets face it, my head wasn't getting any better and there was no suggestion of a medical solution that would securely ground me back into the Hobart everyone else was happily living in.
"Have a seat Will."
Dr Lawrence's consulting rooms was more like a lounge room, with large comfortable seats.
The Doctor raised his eyebrows in his pleasant face and slightly nodded his head for me to begin.
He knew he didn't have to ask any questions as I always seemed to be full of an endless stream of words, tumbling out of my head.
I told him about the VastarebacterTransorium artificially engineered microbe that would eat all the garbage and pollution in the future.
Penrose Hameroff theory of quantum consciousness.
