We finished at the markets and headed to Mt Wellington. We thought today (Saturday) would be the best day to do this. The weather is expected to turn for the worst and we were advised by the woman at the front desk to leave our heater on in the cabin as it was going to get very cold.
The drive up the mountain was beautiful. The scenery was gorgeous, so green and fresh.
By the time we got to the top of the mountain, I was very thankful we put Saffron's ski jacket in. The wind had a chill factor of nearly zero. The sun was out, no clouds to obscure the view, but my god, it was cold!!!
The bonus was being able to drive up to the summit. The views are breath taking and awe inspiring. It really does give you a sense of the surreal.
The viewing platforms are positioned in such a way that you get an unobstucted view of Hobart and the surrounding areas. The toliet facilities were reasonably clean for area that has a huge influx of visitors, and once again, you step out of them and the views are breath taking.
We were all very happy to get back into the car and out of the wind after around 20mins there.
Our plan was to go check out Cacdbury's after the Mount, but sadly they are only open Mon to Fri. Disappointed but not devastated.
