Arriving at Bonorong Wildlife, I wasn't real sure what was wilder - the native animals or the feral kids running around and pushing other kids out of the way! Nope definitely the feral kids.....
I cannot say that I have been disappointed with any of the facilities we have visited over the last 10 days we have been away. Even a wildlife sanctuary out in the semi boonies had clean and tidy abultions.
The sanctuary was easy enough to get around - it is a circular loop - your hardest decision is do we go left or right...... LOL
They have free guided tours which allow you time to pat and have photos taken with a couple of the residents - four legged furry ones that is.....
It was fascinating to see how well cared for the animals were. Especially the Tassie Devils - they even have their own retirement village..... How spoilt are they?????
Saffron got to pat a baby Wombat named Storm and a heffer of a koala called Bert. She was so taken with them and for the first time since she was born (I'm pretty sure) Saffron had the softest, gentlest touch I have ever seen. We even managed to get a couple of photos.
After the koala, we were invited down to the kangaroo enclosure where roughly 80 or so Skippy's live. It was amusing to note that Saffron, Selwin and myself were the ONLY ones who left the track and sat down in the dirt with the Roo's as the ranger said to. Looking back up it was like we were some kind of lepers - the rest of the tourists were talking behind their hands and full of whispers - maybe awating our fate in the paws of the hungry, docile regal looking roos.....
Saffron had a ball - she loved feeding the kangaroo's and being so near to them. Allthough, she did admit that she did not like the sticky, oogy slobber left by the roos after their feed.
We grabbed a couple of souviners from the gift shop before making our way to the local shopping centre to get some meat for dinner.
Once home, we settled back for a BBQ on the balcony and a couple glasses of wine.
All in all, a really nice day.
