After a decent 12 hour sleep - by Saffron, not us, we were up and at it again. First a tasty breakfast and then scouring the maps to confirm what we had thought about last night.
Today, we were off to Tasmazia. This was in a place called Promised Land, approx 40 mins from where we are staying.
It started drizzling/raining not long after we left the cabin. Surprisingly though, it wasn't that cold. The drive was blissful. Very crisp, fresh and green. Selwin said it reminded him of his Grandpa's place in Thorpdale. It was gorgeous and I felt in awe of it at times.
Driving along, we passed a sign for a place called "Nowhere Else" - hadn't heard a place called that before, so of course I had to get a photo of the sign. We drove through it, without really knowing we had..... We only knew we had when we saw a sign at the other end saying "Nowhere Else" pointing in the direction we had come from......
Arriving at Tasmazia we contemplated the fact that we had no umbrella, no raincoat and only hoodies to protect us - except for Saffron, this is where we are great parents - she had a raincoat and change of clothes just in case she got wet......... Which she did (get wet that is) but wouldn't get changed.
There are about 8 different mazes. We tackled the hexagonal maze, the yellow brick road maze, the balance maze, Hampton Court maze, the village of Lower Crackpot and the Great Maze twice. This took us approx 4 hours including a half hour lunch break of sweet and savoury pancakes for the adults, little boys for the girl and hot chocolates all round as we were drowned rats.
Once we got over the exhaustion of maze exploring we headed off to the "World of Marbles" - beautiful stuff but would have been more interesting if they showed how the marbles were made - by the way, the marbles there are not cheap.
PS Still raining and I lost our tourist info guide in the torrent that was running under the car when I got out.....
We wanted to check out the seashell museum that is open 7 days a week, except today, because today must be day 8........
Railton was next on our touristy drive. The town of Topairy and yes, the is ONE house that has a yard of toparies, but we actually went there to see the Seven Sheds Brewery - which was closed....... not that our info guide said that, but I am unable to confirm as it is somewhere floating down the main street of Sheffield now......
By now the pancakes had worked their way out of our systems and we were looking for food again. This time, we wanted raspberries and there was a raspberry farm not too far from us. So off we went.... Still raining by chance but we were warm although not dry in Clarissa.. We couldn't dry off as everytime the heater went on Clarissa fogged up.
When we arrived at the Raspberry Farm - gorgeous looking building, there were more tourists than raspberries. So as Selwin distracted the staff with buying some chocolate coated raspberries (at $16.90 for 150g), while Saffron and I bolted for the toilets...... Still wet but at least warm.
So we drove a whole 25m across the road to the Van Diemen's Land Ice Creamery - wow.... the staff were lovely and very persausive - the next thing we knew there were 3 bowls of ice cream in front of us..... Have got no idea how that happened - but they be good, because I got my favourtie Blood Orange Sorbet.....
Finally this was our last touristy thing today. We took a leisurely drive back to Devonport via Coles - where we got what we needed for a home cooked meal.
Once again, spa, wine and good food have been the end to a hectic day. Saffron is already fast asleep and we are heading there now.
Whoever reads this, when we get home ask us about Sassasfras........
Night all and sweet dreams
