Soongies' Great Adventure
Today we drove from Mostar back into Croatia. And we finally got a stamp in our passport for exiting Bosnia – Calvin asked the border control officer and she was very friendly and obliging and gave us the stamp! When we arrived at our accommodation in Lozovac, the owner's mother (we assume) let us in. She didn’t speak English but we got the gist of what she was telling us. Later on, as we were eating our leftover cevaps and borek outside the house in the sunshine, we noticed there was a police car out the front and a man (we assumed a police officer) there too. The mother came over to us and was pointing to the ring on her finger. Calvin therefore thought that the police officer had come because of some jewellery thief but luckily Kate could interpret what the Mum was saying - the man was married to her daughter! Not such a blog worthy story after all! After lunch we drove the very short distance to Krka National Park and went for a lovely walk in the beautiful Croatian weather to see Skradinski Buk – a massive, clear natural pool with high waterfalls at one end and cascades at the other. Basically we went for a 2 km stroll on the boardwalk passing over waterfall and pool after waterfall after pool. It was so impressive and great to be so close to the water! Later on we drove a short distance to Roski Slap - amazing cascade waterfalls. We went for a short walk to the bottom of the cascades (and on the way we also saw an operational water mill) and then we climbed up a bit to see the cascades from the top. Another beautiful sight. We decided that we felt like cooking at home tonight however we also realised that the closest supermarket was a 45 minute drive away so we instead decided to drive a little bit further (1 hour) and have a look at Zadar. When we got there, we had a choice of 3 huge supermarkets within a couple of metres of each other! And there was a choice of fresh vegetables for tomorrow night’s dinner. Yay! Veggies have been hard to come by in Croatia and Bosnia! We stocked up on some healthy food and we also saw some sushi so we got that for dinner. There was a café outside the supermarket selling pasta too so we ate our sushi and pasta in the café. We then drove into Zadar old town and wandered around. There was a really nice vibe to the place – it didn’t feel particularly touristy and there was actually stuff happening (it wasn’t all closed!). We walked through the old town and then reached the Sea Organ on the harbour front – it’s a musical instrument which plays haunting music by way of sea waves and tubes located underneath a set of large marble steps. It was pretty cool! Right next to it was the Sun Salutation – a big circle set into the pavement filled with 300 multilayered glass plates that collect the sun’s energy during the day, makes a pretty awesome light show and collects enough energy to power the entire harbour-front lighting system. We were pretty exhausted after so much walking and driving today so it was a welcome relief to get home and crawl into bed!

kentishclan Your playing with longer exposure times aren't you Calvin?! Nice time-lapsed white water streaming

kentishclan No video of the sea organ? Was it cool? We were sorry to have missed it :(
soongies There is a video but it's hard to see and even harder to hear (too many background noises!). Was very cool though!
