Blog number 10… already!
Today is Tuesday the 18th of November and I just received my first pay!!! JI'm still cleaning the hostel every morning (together with Emily and Maria), but that's about to change as I will get more shifts at Jellyfish next week. I told the manager that if I'd get 4 or 5 shifts a week I'm available anytime (except for Thursday evening - yoga). He's very happy with me, so I'll be working lots more from next week on and I'll be finally able to sleep in once in a while. The waitressing went pretty well. Can't carry 4 plates at the same time, but 3 is alright. And my cleaning-tables-ability is amazing. My colleagues are really nice and time flies when I'm working because it's really busy. Best thing about the work is that I get a free meal every shift and they've got really good food! I also get free cappuccino's and amazing fresh-fruit-juices, frappes, etc… So that will save some money on food as well. Last week I was in the supermarket and I needed to buy something for dinner. As being vegetarian I decided to try a veggie-burger. I hate trying those normally, because 9 out of 10 are normally niet binnen te houden uneatable, but I forced myself to get over it and just try it. So I bought a package of chickpea sunflower burgers that was on sale (Yeah… still Dutch) and actually, they were really nice! Next step now is to try the sausages, but they always look so horrible… I might be ready for that in a couple of weeks ;-)Last Friday I went to another volleyball training and I did much better that last time! No blue arms anymore J I'm also working out with Dinou, my French roomy. She's a gymnast and we do some workout every other day at the beach. On Saturday I was really tired, but Nicolas (French as well) convinced me I had to go in for a surf with him and Julian (what about all the French people in the hostel! I'm the only Dutchie) and I actually had a really nice surf, so that made me very happy. Sunday was really exhausting! I got up at 6 am to be able to do my part of the cleaning before I had to go to work. I started at Jellyfish at 8 am and Suus (Suzanne Vermeer) picked me up there at 4 pm. She's just been in Africa and planning on going to Philip Island in the South of Australia. I knew she was going to be in Sydney, so I left her a message on her blog, and there she was! Since the surf was quite small, we just chatted, made some dinner, went for an ice-cream (like… the best ice cream ever!). It's the 3rd person from the Netherlands that is around… pretty bizarre, but really nice.Yesterday I did some cleaning, finished another book (I'm reading só much right now, already read 5 books), had a surf, had a workout with Dinou. Started another book in the evening (one that I've already read 3 times in Dutch.. It was just there in thehostel in English and I couldn't resist, but I should go to the library and borrow some books that I haven't read yet… anyone any good suggestions? Please let me know!!)As for today: payday J, cleaning: by myself, cause Emily wasn't feeling well, but she'll do Sunday for me, so I don't have to get up at 6 am again. From 12 - 2pm I played the piano!! (well, an electric one, but was alright). I do have to pay for it, but it's worth every dollar… I really miss my piano… A German girl that was checking out today gave me her transport ticket. She bought it for 7 days of public transport and there were 2 days left. So when Suus texted me to ask if I wanted to come to Sydney to see the Australian Museum I couldn't say no. So after the piano it cycled to the ferry and in Sydney I cycled to the museum… still without a helmet.. I have to buy one or I'm going to get a huge fine… anyway.. It was a really nice museum with heaps of animals. Even a real snake (thought it was fake first, but then his movements were too real…). Check my photo's to see what I've seen ;-)Right now I'm on the ferry back home. Tonight I'm going to go wall climbing with a French guy: Emmanuel (from the hostel) and 2 of his friends. I'm really looking forward to that… It's been a while… Tomorrow there will be work at 5pm and before that there willbe some cleaning going on and I might hook up with Suus again before she's leaving to Philip Island. How is NL? Sinterklaas arrived Saturday.. How was it? (Wies, Djoek, Paps) Like to see photo's! Dikke knuffel voor Vigo en Brecht!
