At Phil's in Tathra - blog 16How good it feels to sleep in a bed, have nice organic dinners, a piano to play, lovely people around and spend your day surfing ànd swimming in small bays and lagoons….So after a surf at Pebbly Beach (Murrangarang NP) we went to Batemans Bayto check our emails and I updated my blog. I forgot to tell you the story of Brad and the frisbee… So the frisbee was a dollar or two and we were going to have hypes of fun using it. Then we found out that the flexibility of the frisbee didn't do it any good, so the Frisbee game wasn't as much fun.. until Brad threw the frisbee and it landed just in front of a surprised kangaroo, who protected the frisbee with her life. Brad tried to go and get it, but the kangaroo nearly got him!! So funny (you should have been there ;-) We arrived quite early at Lilli Pilli ( a little, pretty bay) where we were going to stay overnight. We played the guitar and talked a lot: nice evening. The next day (3/2) we went to Canberra in Brad's car. Since his phone broke, he had to get a new one and the only shop 'around' for his phone was in Canberra, the capital of Australia. As there were no waves, I went with him and he drove around some touristic spots like the Black Mountain and the parliament house. On our way back we had a pizza (very Australian) and (after we picked up my car) we found a place to sleep at Potato Point: a really nice spot with even a (cold) shower!! To many mozzies though….The next day we went out for a surf (see pictures) and after that we drove to Narooma, where they had free internet in the library. Narooma is one of the most beautiful villages on earth (see pics). We didn't sleep there though, but in Bermagui. In the morning Brad and I split up. He needed to find accommodation in Canberra, because he's probably going to work there starting next week. I needed to go south, because time flies and there's still a long way to go. As I went south, I past a recumbent cyclist (op een ligfiets, een 'speedmachine') 3 times… I thought by myself: if Isee this guy one more time, I have to talk to him. On my way south, I checked the surf in the NP Mimosa Rocks, but the surf didn't rock. I went further south and ended up in Tarthra, a lovely village with a nice surf beach and waves, finally! I caught more waves in one hour there than I had caught in the last week (at least, that's how it felt like). As I came out the surf an went for a shower, the cyclist just arrived at the beach and we had a chat. Moritz is a German guy that does New Zealand and Australia by bike! Pretty amazing. We would meet after my shower and, as we did, he told me some people invited him for dinner and I was invited too. Phil and his good friend Suzan made us a lovely organic dinner and Phil offered us both a good night sleep in a bed. Well, can't say no to that! In the morning, Moritz and I went for a surf (I taught him how too) and after that, Phil took us (by car) to two amazing beaches/ lagoons (Lake wallagoot wineglass bay and Bournda lagoon), where we had a swim. We bought some organic veggies and fresh strawberry sorbet ice-cream at a farm and had another lovely dinner. After dinner Phil and I made some music: Phil has got a piano!!!! I was sooo happy! We spend about two hours singing and playing. I also did my laundry here, which is very nice, because there were like no clean clothes left and I had a chat on skype with my family (it's my nephew's birthday Sunday/ tomorrow).Tomorrow I'll go for a surf, pack my things and go further south. There are lots of bushfires around, but from tomorrow or the day after on the weather is going to change and there will be rain. The temperature will lower till about 20 degrees (around 35 today) so that's going to be cold!!! Not as cold as in Holland though J
