My mum left me a message on my blog today, telling me I had to keep on writing, because I would regret it when I didn't. She might have a point ;-)So here I am, in sunny Australia, surrounded by heaps of really nice people and (often) good waves. The only thing I missed here (except for everyone I love in Holland) was a job, but that problem is solved now J Just heard thee good news today! Last week Saturday, I started my first job… cleaning… well… it could only get better from that point… Frenchie (real name Tristan, but he's from France) always hovered our room and Greg would help him with the bins. Greg was kind of fed up with the job, so he quit and I offered to take over… As Frenchie was going to leave this Wednesday, there was another job opportunity and Emily was going to take it. Anyway, cleaning Saturday morning and every other morning of the week. No sleeping-in-late anymore L but free accommodation, so that's not too bad.. We also got some free hours for internet, but it's on their computers and they haven't got skype… And, since I brought my own computer, I have got free wireless from someone up the road (although that's not an amazing connection)After the cleaning, Emily and I went to check the waves and she got a coffee of a very nice coffee place named Jellyfish: just up the road across the beach. I asked the manager if they were hiring people and she asked me to come back on Monday (very busy at the moment)… exciting…After a nice surf that morning I was meeting Kaz and the gang. Kaz celebrated his birthday in Manly, so that was easy for me. It was all about the beach, surf, barbie (bbq) and chilling out. Although the weather wasn't amazing (only 22 degrees J), it was an amazing day…. We borrowed some surfboards from Gary and when I was in the water (on a 10 foot surfboard: small waves, heaps of fun) there were two dolphins about 3 feet away from me! How cool is that! They passed by several times and it was really special.More surf on Sunday and, after dropping my CV in several stores, I passed by Jellyfish again, longing for a cappuccino. As the manager was making one, I told her I would see her Monday to give her my CV and she said she'd have a look now. She planned me in for Wednesday (just one hour try-out)and me and my coffee went happily home.Monday I joined Stina and Maria for a volleyball training and after 1.5 hrs I gave up, because my arms were blue! It was really fun, just have to do it more often and then my arms will get used to it…. I hope…I thought the try-out on Wednesday went pretty well andthey said they were going to give me a call (but I have heard that before…). In the evening I went to do some yoga and had an early night. The rest of the week I surfed a lot and had 2 dawny's (is that the right way to spell it?) or early-morning-surf-sessions. On Thursday I checked the waves at 5.30 hrs (check the sunrise pictures on my blog!!) and the sunrise looked amazing. As the sun sets in the sea in the Netherlands, it rises here, so a beautiful see-sun-rise. I got in at 6 o'clock (after a small breakfast), and there were at least 50 people in already! So the next day, I didn't even check the waves and went in the water at 5.30 hrs and I was the first and only one there (for the next 15 minutes). .Friday evening I went to Luna Park (attraction park) with Kaz and the gang and we had lot's of fun. As I took the ferry to get there, I passed a huge cruise ship… a Dutch one… from Volendam (het moet niet gekker worden). From the wharf at Luna Park, I had a really nice view on the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House (check pictures!).This weekend was quite relaxed: sun, beach, surf, volleyball. On Saturday, I went to visit Gary in the surfshop and as I was there,a Danish girls walked in, asking for a surf lesson with a friend… Since Gary only teaches in the morning, he asked me to do the lesson! So I gave a surf lesson to two Danish people and it was really nice to do (and I made 50 dollars!). My roomy Stina had a volleyball competition on Sunday, so we went to see her play and she won!!Today I was job hunting again. Maria and I passed by a hotel where a friend of us worked as a concierge. We had to fill out these application forms and that was it.. They'll get back with us in a couple of days. As we walked back, we passed Jellyfish and I went in to check if they were ever going to call me at all… So the manager said… well, we've planned you in… no one called you? I was surprised and happy at the same time! I'll be starting there next Wednesday at 6 pm and I work Sunday as well at 8 am… If that goes well, I'll get more hours and well, let's just see how it will work out…Since the waves were much too small for my board, so.. no surf. Instead, we (10 people from the hostel) played a game of soccer (I hear you all laughing at me now!) and yes, I gave up after about 30 minutes… It's justnot my kind of game and it was too hot… Instead I practised my handstand and I took some pictures. For now, I'm about to give Sabine and my mum a call (on skype: please add me everybody!) and then I might go for some exercise with Dinou, my new roomy (she's here with her boyfriend Robin).Leave me a message!xxx
