After struggling round the wind farm yesterday I went and got some pain killers from the pharmacy last night to enable me to walk about town today.
I decided to do the historical tour which started at McDonalds? Ho hum. I took in the Gaol which is the old prison in Albany and went to visit The Brig Amity which is one of the first passenger ships to come to Albany which is in very good condition still. Thank you restoration society lol. Took a short hop along the pier and a stroll through the Anzac peace garden before grabbing a walking map of Mount Clarence. I made it to the first look out point called Wagon Rock and took in a small view of the town before attempting to find the start of the walking trail. NOT as straight forward as the map makes out.
I ended up going on the Mount Clarence route which goes round the outside instead of straight up to the summit. It was a nice walk since the sun was shining and I got to see some amazing views of the other bays in the area. I also saw the biggest bees nest! Thought to swiftly move away from that lol. There are also loads of little black and yellow lizards all over the hillside. They run away of course and I am looking where I tread but in the beginning I thought they might have been snakes so was very wary of every little rustle in the grass! I got to the top and you know what I found? A car route from top to bottom! People had driven up from below! Not that it mattered to me since I don't have a car but still it would have been nice to see other people rambling up the hillside! I walked up to the Anzac memorial and then onto the view point where I sat in the sun for a little while before trying an ascent down the hillside. I am not sure whether my leg is going to thank me tomorrow.
Tomorrow I am going on a mini tour of the area as Lindsay (British lady in my dorm) has hired a car and asked if I want to come along...yes please! Saves me attempting to cycle *laugh*.
The picture is of me about half way up the Mount Clarence trail with the view of Emu Point and the islands in the background.
