Got an early start for the very long ride to South Dakota. Heading to Wall today in anticipation of our visit to Badlands National Park tomorrow.
Let lovely Wisconsin and traveled through the most southern part o Minnesota, passing an agricultural area with of course many farms, but also windmills as part of wind farms. Very flat, but beautiful. Stopped for gas and a visit at our first shop, Those Blasted Things. Funny!
On through to South Dakota with its almost flat, but mildly rolling hills of prairie with few trees. Very sparse in its population, in fact the speed limit on the interstate is 80MPH!
Larry’s dream came true, as we realized the corn palace was only about 7 minutes off the highway . Took a little detour to see this unusual building with its corn decor. I must admit it was nicer than I imagined.
Back on the road, crossed into mountain time, and eventually to the town of Wall and its famous Wall Drugstore. Explored that and some surrounding stores before checking into our hotel.
Off to dinner at one of only 3 restaurants (Wall is very small), and back to the hotel. Tomorrow brings our sojourn into the Badlands.
