Day 64 Bangkok - Kanchanaburi
Early rise as we had to catch our minibus to Kanchanaburi. We also managed to sort out our Cambodian visas. Two hours later we arrived at the Jolly Frog, really nice grounds, an okay room and a perfect location on the river Kwai - beautiful!
We rented two bicycles which was good fun and we cycled to the Death Railway museum and the POW cemetery. It was really interesting and informative and the cemetery was quite overwhelming. We also cycled to the bridge over the River Kwai, ringing our bells as we went - yes we looked like geeks - well Emma did! We walked over the bridge and took a number of photos before heading to the WWII and JEATH Museum - this was as boring as Emma's jokes! We cycled bike and I nearly got run over trying to video Emma on her bike on the camera.
We chilled out in the garden with a couple of Chang's and the Jolly Frog was proper cheapy cheap!
Day 65
Had breakfast and trekked to the bus terminal, this turned out to be a half hour walk. An hour and half on the local bus took us to Hell Fire Pass Memorial. This is sobering and fascinating place. The audio guide was very informative, we watched the touching videos of the POW's who were forced to walk on the Death Railway and got to see first hand the enormity of the task. We were there for at least 4 hours and we'd definitely go back there. We just missed a bus on the way home because I needed a piss! We had to wait another 45 minutes for another to come along. We got back about half five and chilled out in the garden and had dinner whilst watching two rubbish films - bet Emma can't remember which they were!
Day 66
We got up early to catch the first bus to Erewan National Park. Had breaki when we got there and put on our unused walking shoes and headed off. The waterfalls were absolutely amazing, so beautiful.
When we were swimming in the waterfalls we kept getting bitten by the sucky fish - we hate the sucky fish. The river consisted of several levels and by the time you got passed level 5 it was like climbing through the waterfall to get to the next level. We took lots of pictures and getting to level/tier seven was a mission but well worth it. We're looking forward to our next waterfall experience.
We caught the bus home and because we were so shattered we had an early dinner (I had two - think I'm gonna put the weight back on) and went straight to bed.
