Wow! Ive been out here two months today - time has definately flwon whilst Ive been having the time of my life. It still feels strange being away from home, I sometimes just want to be in my own bed, in my home, watching the tv, and just being around the people I care about. I even miss getting up in the morning to go to work - surely this will stop soon!?
I hope Dad, Nan and Grandad had a lovely day yesterday and that they received my cards? Sorry I couldnt be there wth you - I was thinking about you all though.
Okay, so after opening up my account yesterday with ANZ bank, I came into Wicked Travel to see Rose. Rose booked all of my tours for me along the coast. Shes from Manchester, is the same age as me and has been working for Wicked Travel for two and a half years now - they have sponsered her to stay out here. Anyway, before I went to New Zealand, Rose asked me for a copy of my CV. I didnt hear anything more about it and when I came in yesterday, she introduced me to the store manager Julie. We sat down and ended up having a casual chat, basically an interview (!) and apprentley they had tried to call me whilst I was in New Zealand to arrange to see me, but my phone was off (because I had no credit). She said that she could have me started at Wicked Travel as a sales agent for backpackers, within two weeks, starting with an all paid for five day training course in Byron Bay! Result! I couldnt believe it! Im waiting for a call from Vicky, the HR manager for Wicked Travel to call me this week to arrange.
I still went to the temp agency this morning for an interview, like to keep my options open for the future, and I also need some work for a couple of weeks because I literally have $90 to my name, nd thats it. I finally know how it feels to be a broke backpacker - its not nice! The interview went really well, I was tested on Word, Excel and then typing - I did pretty well! Just need to wait for a call now.
I moved into Lisa's place last night in Surry Hills. Its kind of like the posh place in Sydney. She is housesitting there for two weeks and then moving back to Coogee. So, I cooked dinner, spaghetti bolagnaise and then we sat and watched three hours of Criminal Minds eating choclate chip ice cream! Heaven! We got to bed just after 11pm, although I couldnt sleep straight away and lay staring at the ceiling for about two hours!
I had a pretty early morning this morning, my alarm went off at 7am because I had to be at the other end of Sydney City at 08:30. I got there earlym all suite and booted - I felt really important! Haha!
Im just about to walk to Lisa office, again at the other side of the city to get the key to the house (we have one between us!) and Im going to go back to the house to chill out and possibly sleep. Lisa is cooking Lamb Curry tonight. Mmm!
I hope you are all okay - thank you for my messages. They mean the world to me! Miss you all!
