I finally got into my dorm at 14:00. It was so strange to be back staying somewhere I was a month ago! I saw so many new and old faces - some people have been here for the whole month that Ive been travelling!
I met my new dorm mate, Andy from Dorset, and we decided to take a walk to Darling Harbour late afternoon, because there were fireworks over the harbour at 20:10. They were amazing, so nice. You will see what I mean by the pictures, although they dont do half of the fireworks any justice! We had an Indian for dinner and treated ourselves to Ice Cream for dessert. It was great to finally sit and just talk to someone, whilst enjoying the warm weather and lovely views.
After the firework display, we walked to Circular Quay, which took about an hour to get to from where we were (we took the long way round - oops!) to see the Opera House and Harbour Bridge lit up. It was beautiful, like nothing Ive seen before. We sat down by the water for an hour and made our way back to the hostel at 23:00, on the underground double decker train.
We literally jumped straight into bed and I woke up at 9am this morning. Andy has gone to meet some family friends today, so I walked back to the harbour and had a look around the Sydney Aquarium. I took the monorail - it was awesome to see the city from up high, and took a tour around the top deck of the Sky Tower. The views were great. You could see for miles.
Ive just got back to the hostel now, to upload my pictures (not taking the risk of losing another memory stick - oh by the way, I had to buy a 4GB memory stick after the last one was stolen in Byron Bay!)
Im meeting up with Doug and Andy tonight (Doug was here last time I stayed here) and we are going to see if we can catch the sunset at the Harbour Bridge.
