It's been a while since I last wrote my blog.

In that time I've lost my job since I was a "casual" and they didn't need me anymore so I got 15 mins notice that I didn't have anymore shifts! This was about 10 days ago. Last week I applied for a few jobs and heard back from a couple. One of them the job had already gone even though it was only advertised the day before but it was with an agency so they've registered me with them and the other I got a voicemail message rang back and the lady was out of the office. She rang me back but again I didn't hear the phone so I rang back in the afternoon twice and still I've not spoken to her. Don't think I'll get that job! Pain in the bum.

Have started working for my accommodation at the hostel. On Sunday I served the dinner and washed up the plates/cutlery and yesterday and today I spent 3 hours each day washing walls with sugar soap solution! Tomorrow morning I'm starting on housekeeping. It's 21 hours a week for free accommodation. It's actually slave labour as it works out at just over $7 an hour but at least I still have somewhere to live! Am going to make a concerted effort this week to find a proper job as two days of scrubbing really rammed it home that I had to do something else!

Have been making lots of new friends as the hostel is quite empty so it's mainly one group of people who've been here for ages and then randoms who come for a few days and then leave. My friend Brendon who I've known for 8 weeks now had to go back to Sydney the weekend before last to take an exam and catch up with mates/family so I had to make an effort to talk to other people. Now I have quite a few more people to hang out with which is good although people are leaving all the time now it's getting colder here. Have had to buy a coat and gloves. Next on the list is a scarf. Can't believe I send my cold weather clothes home from NZ! The best thing about the weather here though is even though it's quite cold around 13 degrees in the daytime and around 5-10 degrees at night it's sunny and the sky is blue for the majority of the time, which makes such a change from the UK.

I've seen Ironman, Indiana Jones and 21 at the cinema over the last month. All of them were good. Indiana Jones was really corny but funny. I want to see Sex and the City, it's only just come out here on Friday. Not sure who to see it with as a lot of my mates are guys!

Not really much else to say at the mo as I haven't really been doing much.

Will try and update again soon - hopefully will be saying that I've got a new job!
